NPM 12.1 Netpath 1.1.0 Netpath not working

$

So first time trying to setup Netpath.

Could there be bogus issue on why Netpath services will not be working with this version?.

Response on Network Path polling

Host UnreachableThe endpoint has not allowed a direct network connection after repeated attempts.

Internal and external network connectivity says the same thing. What could be the issue? Any advise?

N.B: destinations are cisco devices, switches, router and then the default google.com gave same report.

Error in connection between client and solarwind

Hi All,

We have some agents that are unable to connect to Solarwinds. The client was installed, snmp is correctly configured, and the firewall ports 17778 OUTBOUND & 17790 INBOUND have been opened. We have verified that the SW agent is running and has been in communication with the ORION server:

iptables -L | grep 177

ACCEPT     tcp  --  xxxxxxxxxxxxx  anywhere            state NEW tcp dpt:17790

ACCEPT     tcp  --  anywhere             xxxxxxxxxx tcp dpt:17778

netstat -naput | grep ESTA | grep 177

  tcp        0      0 10.137.6.202:56116          10.137.16.25:17778          ESTABLISHED 18534/swiagent

ps -eaf | grep swi

  swiagent 18534     1  0 Mar01 ?        00:00:40 /opt/SolarWinds/Agent/bin/swiagent /detach pidfile=/opt/SolarWinds/Agent/bin/swiagentd.pid

…yet, the agent and the ORION server have not been successful in exchanging the [appropriate handshake], for lack of a better term. The behavior I’ve seen on servers where the agent is working well is that main SW agent process spawns one or two more processes, JobEngine and Discovery.

ps -eaf | grep swi

swiagent 26978     1 28 11:33 ?        00:00:05 /opt/SolarWinds/Agent/bin/swiagent /detach pidfile=/opt/SolarWinds/Agent/bin/swiagentd.pid

swiagent 27003 26978  3 11:33 ?        00:00:00 /opt/SolarWinds/Agent/bin/Plugins/JobEngine/SolarWinds.Agent.JobEngine.Plugin ep=EWA671347AAD22E407EA127C0307FDFF255 id=f3ea1873-1262-4818-b452-74240ff9f0c1.EWWP ipc=ipc_mq_v1

  swiagent 27024 26978  0 11:33 ?        00:00:00 /opt/SolarWinds/Agent/bin/Plugins/Discovery/SolarWinds.Agent.Discovery.Plugin ep=EWA671347AAD22E407EA127C0307FDFF255 id=080e503e-950e-45b9-a493-68c82e242ab4.EWWP ipc=ipc_mq_v1

We would like to know if there is a better enterprise-grade troubleshooting solution suggested by SolarWinds

Listing serial numbers with SolarWinds

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone had an easy way for displaying serial numbers, service tags, or model numbers in a list using Solar Winds. I've been trying to create a report to do it for me, but I'm still new to Solar Winds, so I'm sure there's something I'm missing.

I'm happy to answer any question you may have for me.

Thanks,

Gus E.

Does anybody had an issue with adding Fortinet 60D node using SNMPv3? v3 community is just fine but I'm not able to add it in v3, test fails.

If anyone knows about it or done it before, would you please share your configurations maybe or some hint on how is it working on your side?.

Thank you.

Now 200,000+ points on Thwack

In early 2012 a Reseller loaded Solarwinds Orion NPM and NTA as a demo to see if we would like it to replace our current monitoring environment.

About May 2012, I dug into the demo and built it up to replace What's Up Gold, Alterpoint and PRTG.  It was so nice to get all monitoring under one company, Solarwinds.

I finally joined Thwack in June of 2012 and found a robust community with fun and captivating ways learn more about Solarwinds software and monitoring in general.

Today I broke over 100,000 points (Level 16).

I have done almost every mission for the last three years and learned a great deal along the way.  Helping with Beta programs and Usability studies seemed like a natural thing to do because if I help Solarwinds make better software, it makes it easier to monitor what we need to watch.  All of this added up on the points.

In December of 2013 I took and passed the Solarwinds Certified Professional (SCP) exam.   I would recommend SCP for everyone that works with any monitoring software.

Today is also the 21st anniversary of my first professional certification.  I finished my seventh test in less than 90 days to receive a Novell CNE on July 29th 1994.  I felt that I was getting to the game a bit late but by the end of March 1995 I added Compaq ASE and Novell ECNE (later called Master CNE) certifications.

Now I am honored to be named a Thwack MVP by Solarwinds!

I truly have a blessed career.

Let me relate some advice that an old amateur radio mentor told me 25 years ago, "Show up everyday and do the best job to can.  If you do, good things will happen to you."

Take care,

Hello All,

I am trying to generate the report for seeing the on how many servers Microsoft IIS is installed/Active/Disabled.

I tried to create the report using SWQL query, Dynamic Query Builder and Static selection as well but the output is not correct.

Can any one of you help me out with this.

the SWQL query i'm using is

SELECT n.Caption, n.DetailsUrl, n.Status, n.ChildStatus, t.Name, t.State, t.LastRunResult, ToLocal(t.LastRunTime) AS LastRunTime, ToLocal(t.DateOfCreation) AS DateOfCreation, t.Author

FROM Orion.APM.Wstm.Task t

INNER JOIN Orion.Nodes n ON t.NodeID = n.NodeID

TIA

NCM Compliance Policy reports

I have created some compliance reports and would like to schedule the reports to be generated weekly. The scheduler option does not provide the selection for a type of report file. When the job is completed we are emailed a PDF report. We prefer to have a csv or excel version but I don't see that as an option. We can manually export the reports from our compliance web page but would rather have it scheduled.

Has anyone ran into this and what was the work around?

Getting Credit for Missions

Not sure where to post this. Not like any other forum I've ever used so here goes.

I have done several of the things outlined in missions but they still show as grey and not completed. For instance, I think you would all agree that I have set an avatar but it is not showing completed. I've also followed and liked but not received credit in missions.

Nobody has responded to my helpdesk email request after several days so that is seeming like a dead end for my first week at thwack.

Where Are My THWACKcamp 2018 Points?

$

I know by now a lot of you have been wondering where your points are from doing the THWACK Participation Mission for the last two days. Some have been able to obtain their points automatically, while others are still trailing behind. Hopefully this post will help shine some light on the process that's happening and the steps moving forward.

Yes, your points should have been automatically applied to your account from the trigger that was put in place for them. That being said, due to the volume of actions being taken for this specific mission it could be hindering performance on these. This is why some are seeing them appear with no problem and others haven't had them kick over yet.

That being said, we have all that delicious data that will allow us to track everything regardless. So not to fear, we will make sure all points awarded to those who participated by the end of next week.

I hope everyone enjoyed their THWACKcamp 2018 experience and are looking forward to joining us again next year!

What's up with this?

SolarWinds AntiVirus Exclusions

Security Team is asking me why SolarWinds recommends excluding certain directories from av scanning.

I was asked why does C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\ need to be excluded from av scans on the app server. I was also asked whether it would be ok to exclude just the solarwinds subdirectory in the NTA directory. So my NTA data is on f:\programdata\solarwinds subdirectory and I was asked whether we can exclude the scanning on f:\programdata\solarwinds subdirectory instead. I originally asked to exclude the whole f:\ directory from av scanning but this isn't the safest option. As I keep reading the list of directories to exclude it looks like I need the whole f:\ excluded.

What are your thoughts???

SolarWinds App Server NIC teaming

$

We recently migrated one of our App servers from a virtual to a physical server.

The migration went smooth but moments after the go-live we noticed performance issues on the server.

To rule out Orion I stopped the Orion services to see if the performance would stabilize to normal activity. CPU usage dropped but the device was still lagging.

Originally the vm server had one nic assigned to it and was in vmhost that was dual homed. The new hardware was configured to use 2 of the 3 on board nics. Each nic has 5 ports and were teamed. A port channel was created on the switches for the teamed nic.

We have since disabled the on board nics and plugged into the pci express nic without teaming. This will be temporary and we do plan on having a second connection to a separate switch.

Checking the hardware requirements I was not able to see if there were any restrictions on nic teaming. Has anyone experienced a similar issues? If so, what did you to investigate and resolve the situation.

Thank you,

Raymond
